GEORGIA BASS FEDERATION NATION CROWNS TWO STATE JR. CHAMPIONS

Lake Sinclair on March 15, 2008 and 19 kids ages 11-18 were wondering if the weather was going to allow the 2nd annual Ga. Federation Nation Jr. Classic to get underway.  Fortunately, around 7:45 the tournament began and except for some wind and 15 minutes of light rain, the weather co-operated. It was a slow day and keeper fish were hard to come by, but, the contestants fished hard and gave it their best.  Everyone displayed the highest degree of Sportsmanship and professionalism.

Congratulations to your two State Champions !

Dylan Peppers took 1st place in the 11-14 age group with a total weight 5.80 and Big Fish of 4.02 lbs.

Nick Jeter took 1st place honors in the15-18 age group, with 10.06lbs. and Big Fish of 4.34lbs.

There were two limits and a total of 29 Bass presented at the weigh-in, with a total weight of 40.13 lbs. Great job Guys! 

All were treated to a Picnic with hotdogs, hamburgers, chips and drinks.  Thanks to the volunteers and boaters that helped make the event a success.

CASTING KIDS COMPETITION held after Tournament

The State Casting Kids finals were held from 12:00noon until 3:00pm during and after the tournament..

First Place in the 7-10 year old age group was Blair Jones, daughter of our Federation President Jeff Jones.

Jonathan Fleckenstein took 1st Place in the 11-14 yr. old competition.

THE Georgia BASS Federation Nation STATE TEAM

  1ST PLACE AND STATE CHAMPION: MIKE MARSHALL OF SIX MILE BASSMASTERS
2nd – 14th Place:  Tony Beck, Mike Crowe, Carl Logan, Glen Harman, Ben Bennett, Bobby Ferris, Ricky Layton, Chris Moody, Jerry Needham, Jay Donahue, Andy Koundourakis, Roger Morrow, Brett Self 
The first day of the tournament saw sunny skies and pleasant temperatures and to contradict    day one, day two was about as opposite as could be, cold and rainy. 
Although, the weather didn’t co-operate and many had to change their patterns, the fish didn’t shut down and that made the conditions more bearable for many.  The first day total was 537.13 and 2nd day was 474.9 with a two day TOTAL of 1012.6 LBS.  This averaged over 10.5 lbs. per participant.
Mike Marshall, the new state champion’s 2-day total was: 23lbs. 2 oz. totals.
Again, congratulations to Mike and members of the State Team!

Results of the State “Qualifier” for the Bass Club World Championship

Lake Russell Dec. 15-16

YELLOW RIVER BASSMASTERS TEAM 2 - Finished in 1st Place with 59.45lbs.

HYDRILLA GNATS -  Finished in 2nd Place with 56.85lbs.

MARIETTA BASSMASTERS TEAM 1 - Finished in 3rd Place with 52.17lbs.

YELLOW RIVER BASSMASTERS TEAM 1 – Finished in 4th Place with 47.35lbs

MARIETTA BASSMASTERS TEAM 2 – Finished 5th with 46.07lbs.

OCONEE BASSMASTERS – Finished 6th with 40.89lbs.

Big Bass Honors went to Brent Tullis of Marietta Bassmasters, for a 4.1lb Spotted Bass !!   Good Job Brent!

These qualifying teams will represent Georgia in the BCWC Divisional to be held at Lake Wheeler, May 20-23 2008.  Conditions were ideal!  NOT!!!  Saturday was cold, with 10-15 mph winds and rain.  Sunday they improved – no rain – COLDER  Wind 20-25mph sustained, with gusts to 40mph.  Even with the conditions, everyone still enjoyed the Spirit of Friendly Competition and interaction with the attending membership.  GREAT JOB GUYS !
